Rigging is the lifting, moving and positioning of heavy items using rigging equipment such as jacks, shackles, slings, hoists and winches.
Lifting refers to the moving and relocation of heavy equipment by means of cranes, overhead gantries, forklifts and purpose built structures.
Riggers are usually required to work in elevated environments and thus a successful Rigger should be able to work comfortably at heights.
Safety is the cornerstone of the rigging industry. A project is not successfully completed unless the safety of a rigger and his team are ensured. Riggers are required by legislation to adhere to Occupational health and safety standards as prescribed by the Government Gazette.
